Hairless mice were irradiated with UVB three times weekly and orally administered B-3 in dose of 2 billion per day for 7 weeks. B-3 was confirmed to significantly suppress the changes of transepidermal water loss, skin hydration, epidermal thickening and attenuated the damage to basement membrane induced by chronic UVB irradiation; these results suggest that B-3 could potentially be used to prevent photoaging induced by chronic UV irradiation.
